James Hoffman

The 2018 season marks James Hoffman's 12th on the Simpson staff and sixth as a full-time assistant. He will assume the duties of offensive coordinator in 2018 in addition to coaching the wide receivers.

After serving as an assitant coach in a part-time role for seven seasons, Hoffman joined the staff as a full-time member on July 22, 2013.

Hoffman coached four all-conference receivers since taking over in 2012, including first teamer and all-region performer Brad Vogel in 2013. He also coaches the sprinters on the track and field team.

Hoffman began coaching the Storm in 2006 as a student assistant. He lettered three times for Simpson from 2003-05 as a defensive back for the Storm.

Before joining the Simpson staff full-time in 2013, Hoffman spent the previous 10 years as an assistant track and field coach at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. There, he coached sprints, relays and high jump for the boys' program. He helped Roosevelt win conference championships in 11 of the last 12 seasons and a district championship in 2005.
