LaMont Johnson joined the SAU football coaching staff in 2017 and coaches the wide receivers.

A native of Detroit, Mich., Johnson played high school football at Livonia Churchill and then attended Vermilion Community College in Ely, Minn. During his time at Vermilion, he earned All-Academic honors along with All-Conference honors and was a team captain. In his two years he racked up a total of six touchdowns and 600 yards.

After graduating with his Associate Degree at Vermilion, Johnson received a scholarship to play at Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa. As a Warrior, Johnson was also a two-year captain, received All-Conference honors both years, and was the leading receiver on the team his first year. He finished his Waldorf career with 700 yards and four touchdowns.
